We're not in Kansas anymore.

Dan and Tan finally arrived in Icheon, Korea after 16 hours of flying. We departed from Ontario airport and headed to San Fransisco for the 1st layover. Our layover in S.F. was short which was great because we did not have to rush to the terminal or wait long. Our layover in Tokyo was not really a layover. We literally got off the plane and ran to the terminal just to make the final boarding call. Once we landed we gathering our 30 bags of luggage and made our way through customs. The airport was fairly new and extremely efficient. We were then met by our taxi driver who held a sign that read our names just like in the movies. The taxi driver took one look at our luggage and couldn't help but burst out with laughter. He took us over to the car and proceeded to pile our stuff inside. Let's just say that it all finally fit after filling up every square inch of free space.
As we drove to Namyangju, we couldn't help but notice how vast and expansive the city of Seoul really is. We hit a lot of traffic and finally arrived at our hotel/home for 3 days until the schools get our apartment ready. Daniel's co teacher Heather got us settled into the hotel and informed us about our school duties which start on Monday. The hotel is realatively small and not the Hilton but it does have heated floors, a 1970s red mood lamp, and internet access which is a plus. As for the weather, from two So Cal natives it is sooooo cold it reminds me of being in New York during Christmas time. Today we will trying to explore the town and get some food.

Take Off

Well it's that time. We are only about nine hours away from take off. Our bags are packed and we are ready to leave. We will first depart out of Ontario, CA and head north to San Fransisco. From there we fly to Tokyo, Japan, and then finally Seoul, South Korea. We are anxious and nervous. We are certainly not looking forward to the long flight over the Pacific. We will contact everyone as soon as we can. Well so long and wish us luck.

P.S. I can't believe we are doing this. AHHHHHHHH!!!WHOOOOOO!!!

End of an era

For all of you who don’t know Daniel and I meet four and a half years ago at Outback Steakhouse who would have known the dirty little bus boy would become my husband. Tonight is our last night at work and it’s a bittersweet experience because we have both grown up so much working here and met some really amazing people. Last night our friends threw us a surprise going away party to send us off to Korea with well wishes. Words can’t express how grateful we are to have these people in our lives they have become more like family than friends. Goodbye to making easy money, sleeping in, bad Sunday tippers, rude customers, 50% off dinners, extra weight gain, bread oven burns, 5 hour shifts, regulars, and our friends.

Getting ready to leave

We should start by saying that this blog serves as an informative tool for our friends and family while we live in Seoul, South Korea. For everyone else who may stumble upon our pages we hope you enjoy our story of living and teaching in Korea.
So as of right now we have about ten days left until we embark on our exciting adventure. We are anxious as well as nervous and have so many tasks to accomplish like packing our apartment into 4 suitcases. Obviously, we would love to say goodbye to everyone however we know we may not see many of you. So until our return farewell, our hearts are filled with your love and support.
